Found in considerable numbers on the leaves of our silver birch tree in June last year, we were worried that we had some kind of infestation going on. In actual fact they turned out to be the larvae of the harlequin ladybird, no less!

Canon 5D MkIII, EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM: ISO 640, 1/200 sec, f/11 (natural light)
 
It's a ladybird larvae !
 
Other than the baffling title (you told us what it was even though we new) nice work.

Looks like it's about pupate to me as seems to have attached itself to the leaf
