Hi Everyone, just picked up my new 7D battery Grip today and must say i am very impressed with the quality, especially as it only cost me £134.10 :). However I have one question I am using 1 canon battery and one Phottix battery, it does not come up and say it can't communicate with the battery and only shows the power for the cannon battery, which is understandable.

Is anybody else using this configuration and can you confirm if the camera actually takes any power from the non-canon battery or does it just ignore it ?.

im am sure it will draw charge from both batteries in the same way if the phottix battery was inserted into thte camera it draws charge but doesnt show data as it is not chipped.

Try it with just the non Canon battery in, if it works OK, no reason to assume it won`t be the same when both are in.

With just the non canon battery in, it comes up with 'Cannot communicate with battery, Use this battery ?'. However with both in, it just switches on as normal and no message which is what makes me question whether it is ignoring the non cannon battery ?.

Try taking some pictures with it with just the third party battery in it. if it takes them, and the battery life lasts a similar amount of time in the camera as the canon one, i don't see a problem?

Just arrived, 'BG-E7 Compatible Battery Grip', £69:95, no probs with either batteries, works great,
Jim
