Out of my field here....

I have to look after a couple of decent road bikes and would like to put each lf them in a decent storage bag and (perhaps) hang them on the wall of my worksop.

I have seen the lightweight plastic shopping bag types but would prefer something better.

Any ideas or pointers gratefully appreciated

Steve

Have a look at chain reaction or MTB groups, people often use them once/twice and then sell them on for a fraction of the price you can pick up some good deals if your not in a rush.

Cheers - will follow up both streams.

might not be EXACTLY what you've mentioned - as in they're covers rather than complete storage bags, but THIS popped up in my email yesterday...

https://bikeparka.com/

as mentioned above, most bike bags tend to be for the safe transit of your bike when using "planes, trains and automobiles" - and as such are a "wheels off, bars loosened and turned 90°, saddle dropped or removed alltogether, pedals removed" kind of deal - so not really much for "wall display" use...

another one that sprang to mind is the CTC bike bag... I think it was originally designed as a "work around" to allow bikes onto trains as "luggage" where the quota of un-covered bikes had already been exceeded...

I'd add, after reading the thread, that I actually have one of the Planet-X bags linked above (think its the
Planet X Super Deluxe Bike Bag - which is pretty damned bood, but it's exactly what I mentioned above - wheels off, bars turned etc, etc - fine for keeping the bike in one piece while running the risk of baggage handlers, but nothing like I'd want for display purposes.

For Display I just hang the bike up...

@TheBigYin what are you using to hang your bike up in that photo please? I could do with something like that for my garage (although the photo makes it look quite a lot like wichcraft!)

The wheels are on tiny shelves but it's held against the wall by witchcraft, as you surmise!

It's one of these...

in white, against a white wall, pretty much disappears when the bikes not there...

if you use SPD's or Speedplays, you'd need the other variant...

won't work to hang the Raleigh, as the gorgeous Campag pedals and integrated toe-clips just won't fit into the holding "pocket" :(

Thanks for that, it's a brilliant solution - very very neat.

be careful to ensure that the bike's pedals are clean around the spindle when you hang the bike, especially if you get the white version - the plastic is perhaps a little softer than I'd like and the dirt/grit can make a bit of a mess of the finish of the loop and eventually cause a little wear and tear in it - looking at it as a long term user, I think it's more of a unit for people who want the bike as a work of art, and maybe ride it on sunny days for a hour or so - not idiots like me that used to go thrash the bike through rain, mud and gloop, then hang it up there still dripping...
