The majority of work I do is wedding photography but I also do some product shooting and portraits. The lenses I have do the job, a 24-105 IS L, 70-200 F4 IS L and a 60mm Macro. I have 50D and a 5D Classic. I like the 70-200 but I don't use it much. I like the 24-105 but would prefer the the 24-70 2.8 for the indoor shots I think. Having a macro that only works on one body is annoying.

So my idea is to try to swap for used equipment.
I think I could swap with little extra expense to get

24-70 2.8
100mm L IS Macro
50mm 1.4

I think I would be in a much stronger position with this and versatility with the crop and full frame. And the image quality should be much better.

Do you agree? Any different suggestions?

Any suggestions of how I could go about doing the trade would be helpful as I don't want to be without any of the lenses and can't afford to fork out without the sale. Catch 22
Would the mods let me offer the 3 for trade on the proviso that I could wait until all 3 were sorted and then do them all together?

I'm surprised you want to get rid of the 70-200, it's regarded as the best lens in the Canon line up and very useful.
The non IS macro 100 is a superb lens but I think the 85/1.8 is better if you dont need a dedicated macro as its a big old lump and the 85 with tubes is just as good if not quite as flexible but is faster and smaller.
The 50 1.8 is as good IQ as the 1.4 from what I have read but the 1.8 doesnt have the build quality. Sigma do a highly rated 50mm, some say better than the Canon one.

The 70-200 is ace but I hardly use it so it becomes a lens I use now and then for portraits and stand back. I thought hard about the old 85mm but I just love the IS 100 macro and to be honest that's a definite really.

And again I have debated the 50 but I dont really want the hunting of the 1.8 during a wedding as its pretty noisy. I would consider the sigma but it is more money and again they can have issues. Any experience from changing from the 24-105 to 24-70 would be interesting
 
I think if I have a 100 tho I won't really miss it. And at some point I might get a 300 prime anyway. Along with the 16-35 I really would like too!

I just wonder if I can do it all with trades. The 70-200 is worth a bit more than the 100 is macro. The 60 macro is worth a bit more than the 50 1.4 and the 24-105 is worth a bit less than the 24-70. But it depends on there being anyone to trade with. I'm so frustrated
 
Just get the 70-200 is f2.8 mk 11 usm you'll find u start using it more awesome lens
 
24-70 good for getting in close general stuff but lacks the length.. there so much to choose from also some lenses will not work on the 5d
it all depends on your style it a catch 22 which ever way you go

clever if you use it on a smallish group in limited space don't do full body shot's :{

I straightened this a bit also removed bit curvature but the feet well they were happy

I have the 100 but never used it. 24-70 close up, small groups say 5-6 across top of body.
17-40 shot's, in car shot's really wide shots,
24-105 general stuff used the 50 1.8 for close up portraits but it noisy also it died so never renewed it
I have even used my 100-400 In church if allowed

My other alternative that I have been thinking about is instead of the IS macro, getting the non-is or the tamron and a 17-40 because I do like a bit of super wide. But I would really like the IS and have looked at it as a portrait lens too and its gorgeous and I like the focus limiter too. But the 50 on a crop sensor would be a good length really so I could just use the macro for macro work. There is never a straight forward answer
