Right guys please help me here im starting to get depressed.

I gabbed my camera this morning to find out that i had left the switch on to activate the extra shutter on my battery grip, so there was no power left in the batteries. Now that i have charged them until the light is solid on the charger and the grip doesnt turn on anymore :(

If i just put one battery in the camera the one i got with the camera stays on, but the new one i just bought turns the camera on and off at will, but the battery symbol says full when it is on........

What the hell

Try removing/loosening the grip and re-tightening it?

What grip do you have?

does it do the same with the extra battery in the camera - without the grip. this will rull out dodgy grip conections etc...

have you tried with battery swapped around in different sockets etc..

And there's me thinking that this thread was about the magazine that the homeless sell.:bonk:

yeah when i put the new canon battery in without the grip it just turns on and then off within two second then on again.... Ive tried changing them round in the grip and that doesnt work. Everything worked fine two days ago and i just feel like crying right now because i need to camera for a job today :(

WHAT THE HELL...

Everything now works fine it seems why is this twitching so much. Im only 21 if this stuff stops working then i cant afford a new camera :help:

This is messing with my emotions right now...

Had a little panic myself there - had to charge my batteries this morning too. Everything works fine though - Nikons don't have such problems...:woot:

I leave the grip switch to on all the time, I doubt its been switched off for over a year and its not discharged my batteries so something other than the fact that its been left on is happening.
Only thing I can suggest is that there is a problem with the new battery that may or may not affect the grip.

I would go with the suggestion of remove the grip and try each battery in the camera only, if the new battery still causes a problem and the old one works you know its the new battery causing the problem. Not sure how much you will be using it on your job, but would the one battery get you through the day?

things to try

is there a master reset on the camera anywere?

take the grip of and concentrate on the camera

gently clean the battery and camera contacts

unplug the batery charger leave 10 minutes try chargeing the battery again

thanks for the advice guys. At the moment it seems like its all started working again but ill keep the thread close to me so that i can revert to the advice should it muck up again
