Big Stopper

Today I was using my Big Stopper with a Lee polariser as well. When I look up the chart for the shutter speed do I need to make allowance for the extra stops, is it 2, of the polariser. I suppose that is a total stop of 12, ten for the ND filter and 2 for the polariser. Quite a lot of my shots are underexposed which I didn't spot on the histogram for some reason.
So, for example, if I need 25 seconds from the chart I need to add on some more time for the polariser.

Yes. You are cutting more light, so you need to compensate.

I actually find live view works perfectly well with a 10 stopper.... No need for a chart then

Get your exposure where you want it without the Big Stopper using whatever other filters, CPL, grads etc, then work your long exposure from that baseline forwards.

Also be aware your 10 stop might not be an exact 10 stops, it might be 9, might be 11, probably somewhere between the two.
