Biggest viewfinder and 100%/1x

Hi,

Which modern DSLR including FF has the biggest viewfinder and also a 100% and 1x magnification , so basically what you see through the viewfinder is what you see in reality (obviously not zoomed in or out)
 
Hmmmm.

What you see through the VF v reality will depend on the focal length of the lens, wont it?

PS. All the 5D's, 5D, II and III seem to have x0.71 VF's.

I might be wrong (normally am) but I think that any x1 viewfinder shows exactly what the sensor sees so it doesn't matter what lens you use you will still see the same image as the sensor.
 
Just looking at specs on DPR...

5D - 96% x0.71.
5DII - 98% x0.71.
5DIII - 100% (YaY!!!!!) x0.71.
6D - 97% x0.71.

Bored now. The specs are there :D
 
A 1x viewfinder shows a life-size image of the scene when fitted with a 50mm lens. A 100% viewfinder shows the full image area recorded on the sensor.

In the overall scheme of things, both are relatively minor considerations. From this thread and the OP's other one, I'm not sure the right questions are being asked. Suggest go to a camera shop and get to handle a few DSLRs.

Off the top of your head does anything have a x1 viewfinder?

Not asking you to wade through specs, I got bored after looking at 4 but those 4 all seemed to be x0.71.

MFT is easier for me to understand, what you see is pretty much what you get.
 
I think quite a few Nikons have 100% coverage. Not sure about any having X1 magnification though.
There are various eye piece replacements with in built magnification.

Off the top of my head, Canon 7D has exactly 1.0x viewfinder magnification, and 100% coverage. But it's one of those tricky comparisons, because it's always measured with a 50mm lens, whereas it needs to be adjusted by the crop factor to be meaningful.

DPReview usually mentions it in their tests. I recall this from the other day http://www.dpreview.com/previews/olympus-om-d-e-m1/3 with some comparisons.

But it's not that much of a big deal and most DSLRs are similar, according to format. CSCs can change the game a bit though, with their electronic viewfinders.
 
For Sony,
OVF (now out of production)
A700 APS-C 95%, 0.95x
A850 FF 98%, 0.74x
A900 FF 100%, 0.74x

EVF
A65 APS-C 100%, 1.09x
A77 APS-C 100%, 1.09x
A99 FF 100%, 0.71x
 
Nikon D200/Fuji S5 Pro: 0.94x and 95% coverage, with 50mm lens.

As above, go on to dpreview.com and do a feature search. I used compact->full sized slr + FF sensor size + 100% viewfinder magnification and got 13 cameras.

In a modern digital APS-C or full frame camera? Not that I'm aware of.

My Bronica SQ-A medium format camera though gets 3.6x with the waist level finder. One of the many reasons my Nikon DSLR is gathering dust...
