I am after recommendations, on a decent pair of binoculars, for wildlife, the new lens I have out performs my old pair, preference something not to bulky but a fair range, budget £60, old pair is Helios 8x21
 
Have a look at Jessops - http://www.jessops.com/binoculars-a...e=20&fh_sort_by=lprice&xslp_filterType=simple I don't know any of their range but it is large and in your budget.

Also this range - http://www.binoculars-expert.co.uk/brands/bynolyt?sort=pl Can't comment on the more compact models but I'm using a pair of the 7x50 which are OK.

The RSPB also do a large range of binoculars.

If at all possible try before you buy.

thanks for links, will have a look at RSPB to try, have a localish reserve to me, the bushnell powerview look pretty good bit over budget but hey ho
will be getting a pair first week in the new year, give me time to do some research,
that's when I will be starting my new wildlife journey in photography ......LOL

I would definitely try some out first...kowa are also good..
 
I have a pair of Opticron Adventurer which are very good and I paid £59 for my pair. Mine are 10x50 which may be a bit bulky for you but they do smaller.
 
Divide the objective lens diameter (say 24mm) by the magnification (say x8) and you get the size of the exit pupil, in this case 3mm. The maximum your eye's iris opens in dark conditions is 7mm. So a 3mm exit pupil will only work down to 3^2/7^2 of the dimmest light your eye will work down to, in this case 18%. That's why you won't see binoculars with a bigger ratio than 7x50mm, the popular military size. So decide what's the dimmest light you want to use your binoculars in, do a selfie of your eye in that light with a ruler underneath it, and make sure your binocular has at least that size of exit pupil.

they look a bit bulky, how are they size wise,

Sitting vertically on my desk with the eyepiece at the top they are 140mm high, 120mm wide at the bottom, 105mm at the top (eyepiece end) and about 70mm deep
 
Obviously if you need more `reach` then 10x are better than 8x, but they can be more difficult to hold steady & slightly narrower FOV. You'll be surprised just how much brighter 42mm is going from your 21 even if you stick @ 8x.

thanks carl, things never seem easy to by these days, so much choice:)
 
after advice and following links here, and reading lots, I pinned down two binoculars , bushnel powerview, and celestron outland x 8x42, decided and picked up the outland pair tonight, what edged it for me was waterproofing,
bit over budget, will be looking forward to tying them Saturday,:)
