Bird Call ID please (link to instagram post)

Have you tried the Merlin app on your phone - my wife uses it for all sorts.

Another vote for Merlin. It was developed by Cornell University in New York but when first installed you can choose which region of the world you want. It also does not need an Internet connection to identify birds.

We use Merlin regularly and I noticed the twitcher on Clarkson's Farm using it too

I've downloaded the app, but doubt I would have been able to hear it because it was a low sound. Even when pressing play on the recording I made, it only picked up a dunook. if I hear the noise again I'll try the app and let you all know the results.

In the app, click search in the bottom bar, then type enough to get you 'Stock Dove', then click on the search result and scroll down to Song.

I use it a lot too, but not always infallable - it didn't recognise my Yellow-breasted Bunting in Bhutan, Bird ID did. I guess because I put the location as Thimphu it just didn't compute as I had registered only the second ever sighting of the bird in the country.

Google is usually quite good at ID, always used to use 'Seek' but now that is slowly being made redundant on my phone.

I'm not too bad on UK residents' calls if I can hear them (when my hearing aids are working!) but still use Merlin for extra confirmation. It also works in Crete - especially handy when one of the hearing aids packs in...
