Bird feeders?

Hey all,
My new 55-250mm lens came yesterday so I'm going to try and get some decent bird shots after setting up a feeding station. I'm wanting to make some natural looking feeders though so they don't spoil the shots so I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas or tips?

Get a bankstick from a fishing shop, instead of putting a y piece in the top fix a branch, long and strong enough for the birds to use as a perch. Fix a feeding bowl to the bottom. The birds will use the branch as a stop off point to the feeder below.
Other ideas that you can incorporate are putting a decent sized mossy log with branches from it to the floor, all are obviously fake but if you look in my flickr you will see that you can't really tell ;)
To keep the birds at certain points, smear peanut butter on the opposite side of the branch.
You will need to keep the food supply up to keep them coming so maybe worth having other feed and water supply nearby.

Thanks, I have a few bank sticks in the garage that I don't have heads for so I can have a play with them :) What's the peanut butter supposed to do?

The birds will eat it (nuts - no more clues ) its something they have to stay and eat rather than pick up and fly off with it therefore giving you more time to get shots.

Stopped using the super glue Cliff.......:naughty:

Keep the feeder away from bushes where the cats can lurk.

Get a large log and drill big holes in it. Make up a mixture of melted fat, dried meal worms and seed. When the mixture begins to set fill the holes with the mix. Position the log so you cant see the holes when you are taking your pics.

i have been trying different things to keep feeders out of shot, if you have got a spade or shovel, dig those in couple of feet away from feeder,
i am putting up a pin or steak with a branch cable tied to it this week,
also a remote is handy you can set camera up and take pics indoors in the warm,

i like the peanut butter tip

It isn't my back garden, its about a 10 minute walk away :)

Some great advice from you all, going to go see if I can find a nice big log nearby tomorrow and see what I can do :)
