I very rarely go to public bird reserves, I very rarely use the hides on said reserves.Todays activities have reinforced my views.

Why is there always one git who wants to tell you his life story, his ailments and how bad a hand he got dealt by the good Lord above. Why do they think I give a crap about them seeing the psychologist,psychiatrist or any other medical person?

I don`t care, I am there to try enjoy myself and hopefully see something of interest other than swans or robins, the probability of that declines as your tedious,dull monotone increases. Does it not give the game away when I don`t answer your banal questions? When I don`t participate in the conversation? Are you really that thick skinned?

And if I move to another hide, and you happen along to the same hide. I still don`t care..................:bang:

Sorry, but I needed to vent some steam.
 
They usually go quiet when you tell them that you have just finished a life sentence for murder.

Gee...why be polite?
Say "I'm not interested, Please be quiet."
If that doesn't work, just tell them straight - "Shut up, you're boring me!"
If they keep talking try harder:
"Shut the F*** up you Boring C-Unit!"

If they still keep it up...well...

So loads of stuff,didn`t photograph much,i`m suffering from CBA syndrome at the moment.

I did see a mink,which I reported to the management.They have a guy who looks after mink............;)
 
ha ha ha been there myself. i go to the hide for piece and quiet. when shooting portraits or fashion you have to be on top form, and i love it, interacting with the models and families. but the hide is my retreat, i dont want some guy nattering on in my ear about how he had wooping cough as a kid.
 
Ask the owners if you can do a nice 'Day in the Life of the Mink-Man' - that'd be more interesting maybe?

I thought you didn't like people ranting about THEIR ailments? Professional bore syndrome seems to be on the increase, I usally attract the kind with a nervous tic too. Thank God I don't do photos out of bird hides, their twitching would scare them off!

thought it was good policy not to talk in the hides...just sip the coffee and keep warm
some tact needed to point out the bonus of concentration and silence

we have the right to remain silent...
 
my kids used to imitate mental cases when they were fed up, that seemed to get rid of most people :)
 
I have at the moment pig flu, cough cough. I find is a good reply to their opening line. I have in the past had fleas on a train to get more room. also chatting to yourself will keep nutters away.
 
I've only been to one 360° Hide on a Sunday at Frampton Marsh in The Wash...it was almost deserted apart from an old couple looking through a digiscope with "do you think it is dear ? i think it might be"

I wanna go back sometime :nuts:

you dont point to your ear either, rather it is point to yourself then immediately cover your earhole with index finger and middle finger

It's a bit like calling all photograprhers paparazzi.

Bird watchers are called bird watchers or sometimes birders.

Twitchers are called twitchers because they twitch or go on a twitch.
In other words they are interested in rare sightings and will travel miles just to see a rarity at which point they twitch with excitement.
They then tick the list and race off to the next twitch.

So all twitchers are bird watchers but not all bird watchers are twitchers.

I photograph birds.But I am neither a bird watcher nor a twitcher,I just like seeing them,taking shots of them and then getting them I`D ed on here usually.........:D
