Bird ID needed please!

Hi guys

After searching through my bird book to find out what this is I have come up with nothing. No need for critique on the image, it is just an appalling record shot.

Regarding the bird's ID, I was thinking it could be a male mallard whose colours haven't come out yet. The bird was swimming about with other mallards also.

Looks to me like one of those cross-breed ducks, Sarah.. but I will stand corrected soon I'm sure!!

Looks like some sort of hybrid to me - Mallards crosses come in all sorts of weird colours.

ruddy duck's,why can't they stick to there own kind,you don't see a kestrel going out with a buzzard.(LOL)
