Yes
Good morning,

Some advice please, would a Sigma 120-400mm f4.5-5.6 DG OS HSM lens be suitable for birding on a budget? Or is there something more suitable for my limited funds?

Thanks in advance
Simon

Depends where you go , I you attend a RSPB site near a feeding station then yes it would be OK , If you are in a forest or by the sea maybe you would need longer , My advice is go out and try

You will get by with that to start with but will soon want something longe.

I would say 400mm would be a minimum, better if on a crop camera body ... if you can do 500mm or 600mm you will be glad you did. :)

What camera are you using as some of the older Sigmas dont play well with later Nikons, 400mm is ok but you will need to get fairly close for smaller birds.
