I have an engagement type shoot for couple living in Birmingham and I'm struggle for a suitable place to shoot it. Only location I can come up with is Sutton Woods.

If anyone knows of a good place, I'd be very grateful for any help.

Thanks

Ian

Brindleyplace?

Sit in Piccolino (outside) for some nice shots.

It's this area

There is a canal near by, and a funky fountain thing, a bridge over the canal (stand across on a higher level and shoot them on the bridge etc)

Raymond, thank you so much for the suggesting, looks perferct. Also a couple of great photes there.

bearing in mind that it is an office block area (albeit rather posh one), so there are people around a lot, especially between 12-2pm, at lunch hour and there are a LOT of restaurants and bars near by so during the evening it will be quite busy. You will need to be patient with waiting for the passers by walking pass before you take the shot etc.

p.s. say Hi if you see me :p I work in the area lol

The botanical gardens are nice but you have to pay to get in so I suspect you'd also have to seek permission to photograph for commercial purposes there also.

Don't think so. I shot a wedding there on Saturday where my Bride & Groom had their reception there. there must have been 4 other bridal parties there just to take some photos, I'm guessing from weddings at the registry office. The functions manager was happy with them being there so long as they actually paid to go in, although he did tell me I was at liberty to tell their photographers to 'go away' if they got in my way :naughty:

Just saw Alan Carr hanging around outside our office (we share the same block with BMRB radio). Not one person bothered him, its that kind of area.

Another vote for Brindley Place. A couple of canals meet there and there's loads of interesting industrial background stuff.

If they are near the Jewellery Quarter, St Paul's Square may be worth considering. Grass, trees, some half decent architecture, good shade options around the church. Check it out on google street view.

Second the Botanical Gardens too. Lots of options there.

Where? and what context?

Brindley place and being told "no photography its private property"

A friend of mine doing a pre wedding shoot was told to sling his hook from the bridge between Brindley Place & the ICC and I just wondered if he was unlucky

Thank you very much guys for your great suggestions. The couple are driving down from Burton-on-Trent so the city centre seem like a great location.
