bit of help needed

i fitted my sd card i recently bought which was a kodak 4gb into my nikon
and its saying card can not be used any ideas why this would be? i have used it on my digital camera with no issues just wondered if there are any other reasons why it wont allow me to use it.

any help much appreciated
 
Have you locked the card in error, or it may just need to be formatted in the camera.
 
Have you formatted it in the camera? If it has been used in a different camera, there may be a bit of code there that is specific to a different model. Formatting it may solve things.

cheers guys i checked i hadnt locked it by mistake i will try formatting it in the camera not got much battery in it at moment so will have to wait til my new charger turns up
