I recently ordered a new lens from Bitesized Deals .co.uk, i have since seen some bad comments about this site as it is US based and not UK based, therefore im expecting to get stung on import duty. I also beleive it may take a while as they have to source from elsewhere and may not carry large stock.

serves me right for not researching a site before i use it:bonk::bonk::bonk:

has anyone used this site, any experiences (positive i hope), will i actually get my lens this year or at all?

I guess as no one replied that meant no one knows anything about the above questions (thats what im telling myself, otherwise it means im invisible or unpopular)

well, i have my lens now, it took 28 days exactly from order to door. I didn't have to pay any import duty which means i have a brand new boxed Nikon 10.5mm AF fisheye for £379 (postage free) as apose to £490-590 on other internet sites.

I'd say the wait was worth it, i may have got lucky with not having paid import fees but the packaging from UPS stated Doc, presumably for documents.

So, sorry for doubting you Bitesized deals and thanks.

PS im not advocating this site as the next man may not be so pleased, just telling my story and answering a thread, all be it my own

UPS could still bill you.

When my 50D arrived from Hong Kong I had nothing to pay for a month, then the bill from DHL arrived for duty/tax

Don't spend what you've budgetting for import duty and VAT just yet!

Import Duty I think will be 6.7%
VAT at 15%
plus a possible handling charge as UPS may have incurred customs clearance/handling costs on your behalf.

The actual figures will depends on the amounts declared, at the exchange rates currently in use.

When I send a parcel Fedex, UPS or DHL I have to supply 4 or 5 copies of a commercial invoice declaring the contents and the value and these get taken with the parcel. The vendor will have had to file something similar when it was shipped.

I don't know about UPS, but DHL waited a month before billing me, so I guess UPS could operate on similar systems.

In my experience UPS tend to be much more direct. When I imported a Timbuk2 bag a couple of years ago, the guy wanted paid in cash at the door when delivering the thing.
