I've recently upgraded my Flickr to Pro, largely so I can load more photos, but the stats feature is proving interesting.

I don't get that many views generally, largely because I don't post in many groups or go overboard with the tagging. But for some reason, one or two of my images are getting consistently viewed several times a day, usually from an "unknown source". What is this incredibly popular image? A seagull. A young seagull on a picnic table. :thinking:

Anyone else see certain images getting a lot of views and think "Why?"

probably a bot or something maybe..don't know :shrug:
 
It could have something to do with having 'Cruz' in your tags.
 
Sorry but 18 views is not a lot.

IME getting big views on a flickr image is either due to it being linked to on a forum, or showing on the front page of google images.

I know it's not a lot, but 99% of mine don't get viewed at all, the ones that do get a lot of views usually do for obvious reasons (eg all my Edinburgh Festival shots, tagged with "Edinburgh Festival", in Edinburgh Festival groups and during the Edinburgh Festival), so why is a shot of a seagull on a table getting viewed consistently every day since it was posted?

I suppose the "Cruz" tag could have something to do with it - that's the bar in Edinburgh the table is outside.

Struck me as odd is all.

28 total views is not unusual.. If you get something tumbld, blogged, etc and hit explore you could see ten times that number of hits in a day..

Unknown source is usually a browser in porn privacy mode.. if you're wondering if it's been posted somewhere you could run it through Tineye.

I've got two flickr accounts one that I've tagged stuff well on and had a few pictures "explored", the other which I never bothered with tags. groups, location, or descriptive titles. The latter even though it has a couple of the same pictures probably hasn't had 18 views in total.
 
I had a sudden influx of views on mine a little while ago after I had uploaded a few of my wife, thought nothing of it until I started getting invites to 'big and beautiful women' or something of the sort. Needless to say all photo's of her are now limited to friends & family under orders! I wouldn't mind, but shes not all that big!
 
I had 1400+ views on one of mine in less than a day.. never found out were they came from, it wasn't in any groups at the time, no one left comments and nothing came back in the stats.. was very strange!
 
Michelle - did you try running the image through Tineye or Googling the Flickr link?

I'm going to hazard a guess that it was the Strawberry Bubbles shot.. that one would seem to have been blogged and Tumbld in a few places.

I had 728 views on one image in a day and never found out why! :shrug:

Having said that, I've just had a look in my Flickr photostream to find the said image and I have no images with that sort of number of views. Now I'm even more confused!! :bang: I distinctly remember 728 views. :shrug:

What a coincidence, just noticed that one of my 'puppy photos' has been tweeted by persons unknown this morning and the views are going through the roof (and it's a pretty carp one as well) - There's no accounting for taste !! - Spotted this just before I spotted this thread.

Amusingly with over 60 views in less than an hour, I've not even got a single 'Wow - Great Pic"
 
I had this discussion on another forum as my most viewed is of a bus in Walsall nowt special but pushing high 500 views last I checked
 
Fetishists, lol, I've had a few of those fave some of my lycra clad cyclists.

Quickly banned them though.
