That's good to know Justin as the 200/2 is slightly heavier than my 300/2.8 I think although I normally use the 300 with converter so very similar weights. Did you find that the tripod collar foot bumped into your legs as you were walking? Also what version Strap did you use?I've used it with a 200 f/2 (using the tripod collar) and it handled pretty well to be honest, I tend to walk with a hand on the camera anyway but I didn't notice it jumping around much.
This was stuck to the front of a D300, so the combined weight was reasonable.
Good to know that the strap works well for you Dave although I am not sure I would trust the 300/2.8 by carrying attached to the Camera.I have just started using this strap with a 1D MK3and 70-200 2.8 is (quite heavy) and find no problems walking all day(ish) attached to camera(prefer the way it hangs like this)..very strong and capable strap..![]()

Does anyone know a UK supplier that supplies the BR strap with the new Fastener R-3 supplied with it? Every one I have seen supply the straps with the old fastener R-2 and you have to purchase the R-3 as an extra.
In the states the straps are now shipping with the R-3 as standard but I guess the UK must be using up old stock.
My Black Rapid double strap came with R3 fasteners a couple of months ago from 1st Cameras
Edit, the single straps do say R2 though, odd.....
Thanks guys. You can order the double strap direct from BlackRapid with R3 fastners. Works out about £22-£25 cheaper than getting it in the UK. If you get lucky & customs don't catch the parcel you'll save another £23.
There probably isn't much difference in the price with the single straps but atleast you'd get the R3s with it.

Hi Ian, Apart from storage room is there any difference between RS-4 and the RS-7 ergonomically or is it basically the same strap? I am wondering if one is more comfortable than the other.I am A UK Supplier, check this thread

Thanks guys.
BTW I have been reading about connecting the BR FastenR to a QR clamp which will then save taking off the Arca lens plate on the tripod foot - has anyone tried this?
Paul, what is a QR adapter? is it a QR clamp like THIS one ?Roy,
I have been using the BR strap for about 18 months now and had the same dilemma regarding the tripod plate as I have now changed over everything to Arca Swiss pattern plates. I use a 42mm Kirk QR adapter to attach to all my cameras and lenses, it really works very well. Fast to clip on and very secure.
Paul.
Thanks Paul, I already have the 2" Jobu QR clamp but read somewhere that the 1" was best - do you think the 2" would be OK?Yes Roy, that is the type. The only small one I could find was a Kirk manufactured one. Warehouse Express have a full selection of Kirk kit including their QR adapters that are Arca Swiss compatible.
Hope this helps.
Paul
Has anyone any experience with a Black Rapid type strap with the 300/2.8 (or heavier lens)? If so did you attach it via the tripod collar or via the lens strap anchor point(s) and how well did it sit when walking. Thanks in advance for any advice.
Thanks for that Julian. I would definitely not attach it to the Camera but was wondering if there was anyway of fixing to the Lens strap mounts with a Black Rapid - it appears not although I think it could be that you could attach to the tripod collar and with a short length of webbing from one of the lens straps anchor points as a fail safe. Do you use arca style lens plates with the 120-300 ?I have a Quick Strap which is a R strap copy that I bought on Ebay for £18. I don't have a 300 f2.8 but I have used it with a Sigma 120-300 f2.8 which is quite a hefty lens. I wouldn't use the strap fixed to the camera with such a heavy lens, I use the tripod collar (I've also got a small bungie strap that I thread through the ring on the strap and the hand strap on the camera, just for safety!). The camera sits at hip height with the lens trailing behind me pointing to the ground, I've not had any issues walking like this. The camera will obviously bounce around a bit but I tend to keep a hand on it anyhow.
