black rapid strap

Do you need to buy a fastener to attach a black rapid strap to a manfrotto qr plate? I've seenfasteners on Amazon referring to manfrotto qr plates. My qr plate has a hook on it so all I need is a strap with a carabiner style hook - think that's the name of them

The hook you refer to isn't designed to hold the weight of the camera and lens, far better to spend a few quid on the fastener than watch your kit fall to the ground upside down from waist height.
