tools > internet options > security > internet, custom level, look for scripting. Else, you could install a new browser (to check if its something else)

bloody hell there's alot of stuff in there with script in the title..

I've recently moved to the latest version of Firefox, and it's a flaming nightmare. Keeps telling me I need to enable Javascript...it IS enabled! I have to switch to IE to view many pages that I previously had no problem with. I've never had any problems with Firefox until now.

I'm also running McAfee...could that be the problem?

Go to Tools > Internet Options, then click on the Security tab.
Select Internet from the list of zones. What security level is shown on the slider below? If it's higher than "Medium-high", set it lower. You may need to restart IE.

Have a wee shot of the latest IE8.

It's every bit a good as FF.

java and javascript are 2 very different things!

javascript will be a different option to java.

ORRRRR just get a more secure, faster and prettier browser, for example firefox or google chrome, (both free!) or update to internet explorer 8 and it should make the problems go away too, while offering you the best security and usability :)
