Blue Hour, Hopeman

The second for me is the best. The first lacks real interest for me, whereas Crepuscular Rays has an interesting foreground with the rays drawing my eye towards the backdrop. I want the rays to be brighter!

Could you have cropped out the ship?

Other than that, a sound composition for me.

Cheers Saxton

I liked the peace and tranquillity of #1

#2 I waited for the ship to sail into position before tripping the shutter.
I think it gives the image more interest.
Had the God Rays been brighter, I think it would have spoilt the image making them too dominant.

They're both brilliant photos, love the 2nd one. Just seen your Flickr page too, love your Pitfour Lake photo!

I like the fan shape of the rocks in the second on the left sort of matching the rays in the sky on the right, don't like the container ship at all though.

The first is a lovely shot.

I like both. The first is the better arty shot, sublime feel to it. 2nd, says Hopeman to me - we visit often as it's down the road from us - love the rocks there, Petro Nordic/Atlantic gives it a bit of scale. Good use of letterbox crop as the otherwise interesting stuff would be lost.
