Have conected my pc to my tv but only get a blue screen on tv saying HDMI 1 which is the port im connected to.I am using HDMI cable to connect both ( a DVI to HDMI convertor and then an HDMI cable to tv ). I go into the display setting and configure settings and it recognises the tv, set it to 1080i which i think this tv is. Play a film on my pc but nothing on my tv. I have powered both off and back on again but still the same. Im on XP,any ideas on what im doing wrong?

Have you actually switched your video output to the TV?

You should get your normal desktop on the TV screen before trying to play a film.

You may need to change your graphics card settings aswell .

Depends what card you have . I just have an Intel accelorator on my netbook , the driver is located in the notifications on the task bar next to the clock . I just open that and adjust the settings . I'm sure that you can change these through the control panel also .

I can't remember where my nvidia drivers are on my desk top , i'm sure if you go to control panel / change display options it's on there . You should then be able to change the driver so that it duplicates the display on to you tv . I have tried before to just change it in windows but it doesn't seem to work 100%

mmm not sure it could be the hrtz refresh rates that are out , would it not be easier to just connect it through your monitor out to the tv VGA and not HDMI ? Or are you trying to keep full HD ? If so is your pc full HD ?

The manual states 60hz which is set on the pc. Im using the DVI output on the pc with a DVI to HDMI connector in the pc to a 10meter HDMI cable to the HDMI slot in the tv and then running a seperate audio cable from pc to tv.

Have you enabled the output on the graphixs card? Also check that the tv is accepting the correct signal (i.e is the tv expecting a 1080i signal), took me a while to get both my comp and the tv singing from the same hymn sheet

mmm..Still not managed it o the desktop pc.I also did a VGA to VGA on the daughters laptop and the picture was there right away--issue i have with this though is the sound.I get background sound but voices are heavily muted. I checked thats it on 2 channel mode and not 5.1 but to no avail...So no i have desktop with a flickering picture and a laptop with dodgy sound output.:bonk::bonk::bonk::bonk:

Thanks for the help everyone. Will download shark007 in the morning and report back.

As for my desktop im going to remove the HDMI cable from around the skirting to see if there is interference issuesthats causing problems, will then continue with different settings to see if i an get it r not.

Also check the cable, some of the cheap cables are not any use for anything mire than 720p this caused me an issue at first with a cheap cable, make sure the cable is atleast hdmi v1.3 i know when i bought my cables the cheap ones on 7dayshop were 1.1 or something and i was trying to send a signal down a cable that would not carry it..... which lead to much head scratching. Couple of quid on a new cable and job sorted!
