  I did warn you

Can I ask why ISO 800 though? I think you could really have got away with 100, and dropped the shutter and F number to compensate. Trust me, try it and see what happens :D These are still a vast improvement on the others though, so have another

I wanted to keep the shutter speed up to ensure camera shake wasn't an issue

I've got the bit between my teeth now

have to say a lot of that is your fault ;)

:D That's right blame me! I Blame CanonBob .. but he has made up for it by coming up with a way for me to keep this lens permanently though :D So I am now the owner of my 400mm L :woot:

Try using f/5.6 then, and you can probably come down to ISO 400.

hee hee good for you
(I was going to ask what the deal was with CanonBob, but some things are best left unasked!!!)

 :nono: Bob is a gentleman! I'm buying it from him as he has the chance of another you cheeky monkey

Superb Mike!

What a transformation in such a short time! Bet you're chuffed?

Great progress & all on one thread.
I am having a problem with Coal Tits at the moment which might interest you.
I have them coming within 18inches of the camera. I have been trying to get shots of them with the 50mm. Trouble is when I press the button all I get is a shot of a blurred bird leaving.
Your thread got me thinking.
I am going to try a few shots using an old compact as the shutter on them is almost silent.
& that is all down to you being told to get much closer.:D

Sawman:
hee hee
glad to be of service!
you need a Leica or something like that - almost silent
We get a lot of LTTs
they seem to come in mob-handed, raid the place and scarper before you get the chance to even raise camera to eye!

Jo:
I knew his/your intentions would be honourable!

admirable:
chuffed indeed sir
have to see how far I can go now

all:
Thanks for the encouragement
what would I do without you?
