Yes
going to watch my son in 30 mins play rugby how do i blur the background
in my shots 70 - 300 tamron f4- f5.6
asap cheers

so the higher the aperture number ie f10 the better the blur ?? or f4

F2.8 = big blur .............................. F22=not much blur

:love:janice your a life saver mmmmmwwwwaaahhhhhh

Higher the apeture, (Lower number), the more DoF you get, which means that the background is less in focus.

Failing that, i'm sure that a little PP work on photoshop will gain a blur ;)

But check how much you are getting before you start as you may need F4 or something.

Depends how you mean higher. f4 will produce a shallower depth of field than F8, f8 shallower than f16 etc etc.

The shallow DO is the effect your after.

ok im off now ill post result later thats if the school lets me take the pictures but im only taking pics of my son anyway and as soon as i see a camera there im gonna be clicking away

What a nice bunch you are! Im wanting to see if your advice has paid off!

Hmmm... You may find that you are unable to do this.... :nono:

I tried to do this at one of my sons trophy football matches... I was soon approached by the teams manager who I knew very well and was friends with and asked NOT to do this.

Apparently, aside from having to have CRB check (Police Check) which I didn't have and I'm assuming you don't have? I was advised that I would have to have every parents permission to do this (Including the other teams).

I know it sucks... I was very disappointed.. :annoyed:

Unfortunately, its the sad state of our current society that negates this type of normally perfectly harmless activity for us normal loving and supporting parents....

:bang:

It may be different for your sons club - I hope so.

Just thought I would add.

Well I guess he is there now... so we will see on his return

This is infact incorrect, although it could be seen as common courtesy. I come accross this a lot as a Scout Leader, and, oddly, its poeple who don't have kids that seem to kid up the fuss. We like to put photo's up on the group website etc.

You could even, although again its sensible and courteous put the photos on a website. There are various rules about naming etc, guidlines I have to follow come from the Scout Assosication, and there are steps to take to protect the children from identification by "strangers".

That said, you don't need a CRB to take photo's at your son's club, be it football or anything else.

It is couteous to ask permission of other parents if you are publishing, in fact you then get into model release territory perhaps. For your own memories, albums etc its no problem.

At a recent meeting of the Accrington and district junior league.. attended by club managers, welfare officers and league big boys :)

the subject of photography was addressed and the league said they wanted to activly encourage photography at the junior games. helps promote the league amongst other things... they made it clear that no one needs a a crb or anything else.

go to any of there league games and start taking pictures and some adult know it all parent or not will not only ask you but then will proceed to tell you exactly what the law is... wrongly!

Well thanks Rob & KIPAX.

Looks like I may take this up with the said manager again. I would like nothing more than to be able to take some photos of my own son in action on the football field. I saw nothing wrong with it.

But again given the current situation with what is fast becoming a nanny state and the ridiculous things you hear with regards to being able to take photos at certain locations e.g. Government buildings, School plays etc.. and we've all heard it, or even been on the recieving end.

I took what he was saying as gospel.

Perhaps it is a club rule - But I will definitely clarify now.

Where are the games played? If they are on private property ie the local school then they can have any rules they like if it's the local public park then you can shoot away unrestricted but watch out for soccer mums with brolies!

watch out for soccer mums with brolies!

:lol::lol::lol:

9 times out of 10 times it is either on a local park or at an away teams football ground...

So should be O.K.

Thanks

what is the point of a CRB check? if you carry it around with you surly you could have forged it? what if you have a conviction for assault, but not for being a p*** then can you take pictures of kids? what if you are a raging p*** who has not been caught yet?

The best thing is that if you have had a CRB check done within the last 3 months and you need go get another one (say, you're a sessional youth worker), CRB won't recognise the "old" CRB check for details like your name, living address and so on... It's a joke which is only there to employ people and make money. The whole CRB thing is so silly, it makes me bounce.

liking the few posts,

nice instructions for newbies

but for the original poster how does the lens come into play: 70 - 300 tamron f4- f5.6
