I'll add this last one in - I'm not happy with the lighting but it was close to what I wanted - I was standing at the top of a stepladder shooting downwards with camera help high above my head. One of those times I wish I still had my 14-24…

Love all theses shots!!! :) Im new to photography and would love to shoot BMX riders and skaters, what lens were you using? Ive got a Canon 550D what lens you think would be good to shoot with?

some good shots there only thing is i think they could have been cropped a little better to eliminate the lights/lamposts, they are just a distraction, (y)

Good set of shots, particularly like the last one. Although I do also like the slight grey to white gradient vignette style on the first one :)

I really like these action shots. Probably could try some high contrast black and whites with them too, might look good. Nice exposure and focussing though. My favourite is definitely number 7. It's spot on, great framing.

You need to be able to see more of what they are doing, where they are taking off from and where they are landing. I have risen BMX for years and i have taken the odd pic of my mates etc.. For me the no hander shot would have looked better on a long lens, not shot looking up his nose. Long lens, you would see the jump etc.... Lighting wise they seem pretty good they are sharp etc... Remember that the person looking at the pictures was prob not there... So they will want to see what the BMXer is doing and what over etc...

Number five does it for me and yes to cloning out some of the lamposts in the shots, I think sometimes action shots like this benefit from some motion blur on the spokes etc.
