I have a budget of around £1000 - £1500 and am looking for a pro body and lens. I currently have a mid range sony DSLR and am ready to progress, I am aiming to get into pro photography, mainly fashion/portrait/studio based. I want something that will see me through to earning my first photography wage packet, I'd love a Canon 5D Mk 2 but just dont think I can stretch to the camera and a good lens....can anyone suggest any viable alternatives? I am more than happy to look at second-hand models.

Many thanks in anticipation

Even second hand trying to get a Pro Body and a Pro Lens you'll be extremely hard pushed on that budget...

Have you looked in the 2nd hand section here to see what is around ?

Before you zoom off to follow the Canikon herd, remember that Zeiss make lenses in alpha mount which AF, something that they don't do for Canon or Nikon mounts. I own a ZA 85/1.4 and it is a thing of beauty, both in construction and the images it can create (way exceeding the ability of the person behind the camera in my case)

I would have thought a 5D classic or it's Nikon counterpart would be well worth a look. In Canon terms as said 24-105 or 24-70 would probably be a sensible place to start.

Don't think you will get a pro camera and lens for that price but you could get a decent camera to start with, and then a lens to suit your photographic wants.
