The 7D advantage is that its new technology, probably has better ISO performance that the 1D, bigger range, although I've been pleased with mine MKII. I still reckon the 1D would knock the socks off the 7D on autofocus performance and in my opinion the 1D is still the one to go for if you do action photograph. There's a lot of togs who still love and cherish the 1D MKII, I would part with mine for love or money. You can pick the 1D MKII versions up for about £600-700 with the MKIIn versions (not a great deal of difference, large screen, bigger buffer) for slightly more. Built like a brick shouse and fully weather sealed when attached to certain L series lenses the next camera I buy would be another 1D
