"Boing" in my lens

I've just tried my 18-55mm canon lens for the first time in a while and I've just noticed that when using the zoom ring there's a very apparent "Boing" noise when the zoom gets to a certain point.

It's as if there's something catching on a spring inside the lens mechanism itself.

Any ideas on how to fix this or is it something that's progressively going to get worse over time?

is it the non is or the is one ? , if it is still working i would leave well alone , if it dies then it is not the end of the world as the value of the lens is next to nothing secondhand ..........

I have a feeling its the non IS one. If it does die out I'm not too bothered to be honest. Its not the greatest lens anyways, but if there was a quick fix I would have given it a try. Oh well.
