I appear to have become a fan of Bokeh balls at the moment, so messing around last night with a mix of real and post processed on this portrait.

Completely unplanned and was just testing something with the flash. Grabbed No. 1 child and stuck her in front of the patio doors so surprised how it turned out.

Thanks, yeah the Bokeh at the front was obviously added.

The apparent structure and shape of bokeh balls can tell you a lot about how your lens performs over the transition between what's in sharp focus and what is soft. The modern fascination with very high detail resolution, fuelled by modern technology which makes pixel peeping very easy, has led some modern lens designs to trade off more of general image quality in order to increase the detail resolution of what's perfectly in focus.
 
It's a great image, but I'd definitely 'kill' the two bokeh balls from her hair......
