"Bokeh king" lens blocks metering mechanism on Praktica MTL3

Hey everyone!

Just got near-mint condition pre-set variant of Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar lens, wanted to pair it with East German camera so went on ebay and got Praktica MTL3 in fairly good condition.

Unfortunately it seems like the lens goes deeper than the screw and blocks little leg under the mirror that activates metering, so camera metering does not work when the lens is on, only works when the lens is at least one full roll loose.

Anyone had similar problem and can recommend a fix for it maybe?

When you say "preset", do you mean the version where you set the aperture and then move a second ring, to close down the aperture before taking the picture?

If so, the lens would have been meant for the Contax S or D (and their Pentacon variants) without any form of lens linkage. In that case, the lens would have been designed to screw in to an empty space and therefor wouldn't take into account the automatic linkages introduced for later models.

Well same for some screw lenses with Pentax cameras, but didn't find a problem using the same problem lens on a MTL5, so I don't have an answer for you........ :(

Not a fix but a work around - an external light meter (probably an app available for a smartphone.)
