Well I have been building my winter kit up, ready for them nice icy mornings, and such. (shame about all the rain at the mo).

Last thing I need is some super warm, super good boots. I am a size 12, and after something that I can easy clean, if I go walking over field and stuff, but must keep me toasty.

Thoughts?

Skeetex Field boots- use them for wandering the river in winter; the sheepskin lining is awsome and they are totally waterproof. Not the best looking boot but function over form for me any day. :)

I wear something similar to the above, bought at a local fishing shop. They have felt rather than sheepskin though and cost £40. Normal socks first, thermal socks and a pair of sealskinz socks last, feet are warm all day and they are ok`ish for walking a lot.

Sweet thanks peeps, I got the thermal socks too. Just the boot and I am ready to go out to the wilderness.

Those sealskinz socks are the business mate. The boots are not fully waterproof to the top,so if you walk boggy or marshy ground or cross streams, you can get damp feet. The SS socks keep your feet warm even when wet......

I wear Magnums, same as the Police & some forces ..

I find wellies horrific to wear or walk in for any length of time. Though the gillies I know wear those very expensive French ones all day and swear by them, downside is that they are about £250 a pair...

Are those the leather ones? They look like nice wellies (if the word nice and wellie can be said / written in the same sentence!)

I got some Salomon snow boots in TK Maxx a few years back for about £30. I know they have some Karrimor ones in at the local one at the moment, though I didn't look at the price. They are similar in design to ones Specialman linked to, so might be worth having a look in there if there is one near by.

Does that area of fleece sticking out at the top not get mucky from mud etc.?
