Yes
ok........................so that may sound a bit odd.

I currently have my own site (with webs as it is free and I am skint), but I am bored with it. I don't see a lot of traffic and I am not one of those in a position to be making money off my shots.

But I do like showing off my shots and keeping a bit of a journal.

I was thinking of just slimming down to having a blog and showing my images via flickr and wondered if this would be a viable idea in the mind of other togs.

As to blogs.......................this is where I am confused.............I have looked at practially every blog that is mentioned on the site and I am still confused. Most that I look at don't seem to make best use of the page space and a plonked down the center of the page.

I also like FREE (at least for the moment), and quite like shutterchance, but they seem limited on the amount of text in the way of blogging.

Any idea, input, insights etc would be most helpful.

you have some nice photos - I love the one with the horse just looking at you

Have you tried blogger?

I have a little photography blog there and you can choose the layout and style you want from thier templates, you can even change it every few months if you want a fresh look :)

I have looked at blogger but I I am not too keen on the way all layouts seem to be stuck down the middle of the page. There seems to be a huge waste of space on one side.

You can customise Blogger to some extent, the other option is Wordpress.com, they are certainly the main two. A blog and Flickr would be a good combination for a free way of showing off personal images.

I just want something simple with no faffing around. I did look at pixelpost but it all looked way more complicated than I wanted/needed/could cope with.

Blogger is nice and easy but I am not keen on their narrow centeral layouts (I know I am way too fussy).

Don't you have to host wordpress though? I understand they do a free version but I have no idea how the free and hosted compair with each other?

Wordpress, thousands of themes so you should be able to find what you want and then tweak from there. wordpress.com is hosted by them and totally free, wordpress.org lets you download the software for free and then upload to your own webspace (which is what my blog is done with) - so not free as it requires you already have paid for hosting. BUT it is way more customisable than wordpress.com blogs.

hhmmmm, may have to have a look into that.
Although I can't realy justify paying for hosting at the moment..............unless I can find something really cheap.

Pixelpost seems to be a slimmed down version of Wordpress, allows you to post images but no option to create text pages etc.

Wordpress with photo plugins is extremely easy to install and use, give it a try and if you run in to any problems ask here :)
