Went and bought a Nikkor 80-200 f2.8 AF-D today.:love:
Can't wait to shoot it in anger, and see how it performs on my D7000 !!
I have a feeling it will be a tad better than my 18-200.:lol:

Will post some images in the next few days.

It's a great bit of glass. You'll especially love it when you acquire that D700.

Yes, that's what I'm aiming for.
Unfortunately buying this has put back the D700 by a month or 2, but I figured, it's better to have good glass, so it can wait for a bit.
Looking forward to honing my camera technique, so I can do the glass/camera some justice.
I suspect better glass needs better technique, especially as there is no VR on this one.
 
i was thinking about this lens to replace my Sigma 70-200 f2.8 HSM mk2 but not too sure because the Sigma is new and new technology, i guess the nikon 70-200 VR1 is my next route lol

I paid £725.00 (used) from Gray's of Westminster. Mint condition, complete with box, leather case, and lens hood.:)
Brilliant shop, have bought from them before.
Oh, and it has 18 mnths warranty.
I would have liked a 70-200 vr2, but it is double the cost, and to be honest, I couldn't justify it. My 80-200 focuses very quick, and it has a good reputation for being razor sharp. It's all metal, well built, and I am chuffed with it.
 
I have picked up one of these recently Gary...use it on both D90 and D300 .....love the feel of the lens and boy is it a step up from the 18-200 vr.

Enjoy the lens.

This is on my list for Jan/Feb so be interested in your views as well. I'm stepping up from the 18-200 as well. Same story, would like the 70-200 but can't justify it yet. Would like the 80-200 to earn it's keep first.

I went from the 70-300 VR to the 80-200 AF-D and was amazed by the difference in sharpness and colour rendition, you'll love it :D
