HI,
Can somebody please explain to me what braketing on a B&W film camera is. I braket on DSLR to produce HDR images.
Can this be achieved on a Film?
Thanks
Sam:D

Bracketing is normally done when you are faced with a tricky light situation which may be difficult to obtain an accurate meter reading. You would take a photograph at the recommended setting, and then you would increase exposure by a stop, followed by 2 stops, and so on. You'd do the same the other way round, decrease by one stop, 2 stops, etc. and you would hopefully end up with one shot which was correctly exposed.

just to expand on CarlV's comment, if you're shooting transparencies, bracketing comes in handy again for ensuring correct exposure, but as the lattitude of slide film is pretty narrow, and it's a finished article (can't "fix it in the printing" or in Camera raw ), you tend to bracket by maybe 1/3 stop increments.
