Bridge camera advice needed please

Im looking for a bridge camera for my wife, it'll be a general walkabout camera, taken everywhere but must be able to capture action shots well ( she's horse mad ) and preferably fairly simple to use ( not too many complicated button layouts or menus )
Any real world advice muchly appreciated.

I was looking earlier ar bridge cameras in relation to another thread but I had a look at the Canon PowerShot SX40 HS. It looks a great camera and if I couldn't have a dslr I'd want something like it for aviation shots.
