Bridge Camera advice please

Just wondered if anyone had any advice/experience they could share please.

My brother in law is after a camera that he can take to the TT.

£300 budget, relatively small, doesn't want the hassle of changing lenses.

He's already done some research into bridge cameras and narrowed down to possibly the Pentax X90 or Panasonic Lumix G10.

I have absolutely no experience of bridge cameras. I'll read the reviews and try to see which has the best ISO range, lowest apertures, zoom etc, but I wondered if anyone had any first had experience, good/bad points or if there was another option.

Hi

I don't think the G10 is a bridge camera, it takes interchangable lenses, but what about Fuji's bridge camera's, especially the H10 or H20? I have had a couple of Fuji's and they are quite good. Another option might be cheap second hand DSLR body and something like the Tamron 18-250 or 270.

Have you looked at the Fuji cameras. I have a fuji S8000fd and the S9500 and they are superb cameras. There is a new one out to which is the FinePix HS20EXR which is just over the £300 mark. I got my Fuji S9500 off ebay for £50 and you can get the even better S9600 for not much more but the prices do seem to be getting higher as people realise what good cameras they are

You also have older cameras like the Fujifilm FinePix S200EXR which got superb reviews and can be had on ebay for just over £100 (if you can find one)

Edit: there is one HERE for around £80 at the moment but it does have a few dead pixels on sensor

Panasonic do some good ones too. There's a few to choose from listed on here:

I have an older panasonic 10mp bridge and it has been great. Not too heavy to carry round and has a decent zoom range and macro mode as well as full manual, auto, scene modes, aperture and shutter priority.

I will definately recommend the fuji hs10...i have one and it is great,would be ideal for the TT with it's 30x zoom !!!

I own two Fuji models, among others, and can tell you they make excellent bridge cameras... in fact that's the only kind of camera this company makes any longer - the model will have to be up to you.

Not sure the X100 would count as a bridge...
