Bridge camera recomendations

I'm about to buy my wife a bridge camera for £200 tops, can anyone recommend a good all rounder? There are a lot of fujifilm ones around but some iffy reviews. Help would be much appreciated .
 
I had an FZ38, which is pretty neat. The image quality is really good so long as you don't go above ISO800. Plus it's very full featured too (18x zoom, 720p movie recording, manual settings like shutter speed or aperture priority even in movie mode, nice ergonomics). And it recently dropped in price; I think it's around £180 at Dixons.

Personally I would stay away from the newest ones. Adding more megapixels and more zoom on that tiny little sensor does no favours for the camera at all.
 
Have a look at the Fujifilm website, they are selling the HS10 for £215.79 with a full 12month warranty.

They are Refurb , bouugt a S2500HD for my son to use and it is like brand new.

Might be worth a look.:thumbs:

For someone who does not have a massive amount of experience (Sid won't mind that comment) and had the camera for 4 days and can take shots like these, proves to me the HS10 is a bargain.

DSLR like twisty zoom, flip out screen, HD Video, RAW - it does everything that a fancy compact does which non togslike, as well as having a good lens, manaul options, a good Macro option etc. etc.

It is not the smallest, but it is good.

And there wll be iffy reviews- mainly from people who want it to be a DSLR when it is not, it is a great camera.

+1 For the Panasonic FZ's. Started out with an FZ35, really loved it and feel it gave me a great start with learning photography.

The FZ35 is pretty old and had a lot of noise at ISO400. I believe newer models have improved that a bit though.

yep i bought the HS10 last thursday, and have got some pretty good pictures, and its only in auto mode! can do loads more with manual on, but i havent got that far yet. The zoom is great, you dont have to be anywherenear your subject, and it still looks great, macro is brilliant. And it takes clear action pictures in sports mode.

I love it, i bought mine in town, so paid £300 for it, which is a lot, but you can get it cheaper online.

definately recommend the HS10, i love it :thumbs:
