I took the day off work to spend at a sunny but cold Oulton for the British F3 test. The rest will be posted on Flickr at some point in the next few days, when I get a bit of spare time.

As usual, C&C welcome and encouraged on these shots.

Cracking set Richard. I wasnt 'getting' it today. Dunno why!

1 is very sharp and a nice pan :)

2 is even better then it looked on the LCD :D Great shot!

3 Love it, the B and W is excellent

4 is superb. Glad I told you that idea, I couldnt nail so I am glad you did!

5 is a nice enough shot, could do with a bit more intrest.

6 is mega, that heat haze is HUGE!

7 is very well caught. Super sharp.

8 is a nice pan and it was a pretty car!

9 is a sharp man

10 is another lovely sharp shot!

11 is another well caught moment, so sharp.

12 is a cracking bird shot :D

Mega stuff matey!

What a fantastic set all really good and especially the "bird" shot. I'm going to stand next to you. Sharon

Thanks everyone, I'm pretty pleased with what I got today, with it being my first proper shoot of the season. Being able to wander around freely in the pitlane and get up on the pitwall without being moved on was an unexpected bonus.

love number 11
what lens were you using? looks pretty long!

Every shot I've posted on here was taken with my Sigma 120-400mm I think. It's a bit too big in a couple of places at Oulton

You've got way better glass than that to play with haven't you? Or has your 70-200L finally gone to the great camera shop in the sky?

feeling the need for some extra mm. there comes a point where panning everything at a distance just doesnt cut it.. i need some nice long lens 3/4 and head on shots

Lovely set. and your a begger for pic 12 been trying to get one of them for awhile. Seen 2 buzzards flying around last weekend. And came within 3 feet of one today but no bloody camera and would have caused a crash suddenly stopping on a round about.

It's a great lens for the money, you just have to bear in mind that it's not too sharp wide open and shoot accordingly. I treat mine as an f7.1 lens unless it's really dark and it gives pin sharp images.

I've just checked and camerapricebuster are giving a cheapest price of £599, which is quite a bit more than I paid

I thought about Ray when I saw pic 12 was stood with him at Druids last weekend when the buzzard was flying round. Sharon.

I love the heat haze in 6. What setting was that?

I was there the day before for an open track day. I tried to get some heat haze from a car in the Pits but it hasn't worked.

Blimey that's one of the best sets I have seen in a good while :) the pitwall shot is amazing photo of the year so far for me. Love blue and silver cars and the heat is massive! Think u won't get that shot again:( not unless you can get on the pit wall race day!

Having problems with the olympus so tempted by your set up, you have just proved that I need it ! :)

Bob

Nice set of shots, all good on ther own merits.

My Fave's are
3, gives great suspense and atmosphere (y)
5, nice DOF and framing
11, great catch and plenty of movement.

Simon

Bob, I did try and make the most of being able to freely wander around in the pitlane and on the pitwall. I had a conversation with Matt Sayle about doing some 'people' shots if I could. I totally forgot to upload any in my original post, so here are 6 more from the day. Sorry to post so many, but I thought I should show Matt that I took his advice
