Broken 430ex mk2

Over ther festive period my little sod of a brother aged six was showing off and dropped my camera on the floor.
Luckily the body of my camera seems in perfect shape with not a scratch on it , and neither does my lens.

But even though the pop out diffuser on my flash gun wasn't out it has snapped off , It was bought from jessops but does anyone know where to get it repaired and would it be worth it or not... I use a Plastic diffuser on it not anyway. But for future reference.

Hope someone can help!

Oops ...

If its only the little pop out diffuser that's come off and you don't use it, I'd wouldn't worry about it. Keep it in a safe place in case you want it at a later stage.

Not knowing exactly how it's connected in, but if it slides in / out - have you tried to put it back in ?

Yes i keep it in there so i don't loose it! , it seem's pretty secure...

Don't really want to fork out loads for a little repair though , when im usually using a plastic diffuser anyway.

Presumably you mean the "wide panel". The flash head zoom goes as wide as 24mm, you've got a 40D which has an APS-C sensor so if you don't intend to use direct flash with a lens wider than 15mm (24mm divided by 1.6 equals 15mm) you don't need the wide panel.

I've got a 430 EX with the wide panel damaged where I dropped it. I had to force the remains of the wide panel back into its place, to keep the flash from zooming to its widest. Never needed to have it popped out, anyway, so it works well enough.
