My dad bought me this nice tripod for Christmas but I think it is not working well and it is getting worst.

At first it was love ;-) the tripod look good and sturdy. But there was a tiny play in the central column. At first I though it was a compromise of having a multi-orientation column but now I think it is getting worst and it is particularly useless to have such a nice tripod if it has some play in it. There is a play in the central column like if the whole part which attach to the leg is wobbly. When the column is extended out you can easily move the end of the rod 1 maybe 2 inches... I have tried to contact vanguard uk warranty to see if they could help but it seems that they're mailing box is full and the mail bounced back.

I can foresee the fun that it is going to be, the tripod was bought on internet in France so it's going to be tricky to have the warranty working. So I guess I will have to post it back to my dad to get him to sort it out and send it back to me which should cost quiet some money in postage...

Anyone has similar issue with this tripod?

You are aware that there's an adjustment to change the tension for the column mount aren't you?

Bob

Nop but that would explained! I was looking at the little orange clip the other day and couldn't figure out if it was adjustable. I will look again that would be a good news.

If you pull open the orange tab that you use to release the column then there's a hex head bolt behind it....this is used to tension the clamp.

Just don't overdo it or the clamp won't click and lock.

Seems to be working better now! Thank you guys.
Also got a answer from vanguard using another email adress and they were happy to work directly on my tripod without sending back to france. So a good point for their customer support too.

I have this tripod. I've not had any problems with it so far (touch wood), did the adjustment that @Canon Bob sugest work? Be handy to know for the future just in case.
