Brown Owl?

Yes
I took these photo's at the local show. The display was in a small area with rubbish backdrops all around, so these are probably the only two I took without someone eating an ice cream in the background!

All the ones with birds in flight came out much the same as the one shown, head and body ok, wings blured. I was using Al focus and single point on the head, or as near as I could get.

Camera setting was 1/640, f7.1, iso 400, and I used a 70-300mm at 300mm.

My question is this, was my aperture to wide causing shallow DOF or was my shutter speed to slow. Or am I just rubbish :bonk:

Thanks for any replies in advance.

The bird is an Eagle Owl and looks like the Indian race to me often called 'Bengal Eagle Owl' by falconers.
