Yes
I have had calls and broadband with Virgin for years now and the service has been good. My phone line rental was with BT but they started messing me around so when I found I could get my line rental with Virgin I jumped at the chance. The line was changed over a day or so.

Today, the phone rang. I answered it and get an automated voice saying I have a BT SMS message and giving me a number of options. I put the phone down. 10 minutes later another one arrives.

I have not come across these before on a landline. Presumably they are just junk.

Does anyone else get them/know how to stop them?

Unlikely Lisa, the only people who text me are Vodafone and I would hope they get my mobile number right, but thanks for the thought.

I've had a few of these and I think all of them have come from the water board,on about a leak or what to do about the cloudy water

I'm with talktalk btw

Roger, you can get SMS messages on your landline, they will be with a computerised digital voice.

A friend had a spell of sending texts to our landline instead of our mobiles, the jokes are not the same when read by a monotone robotic voice :D

You could always text your landline 'naughty chat' to avoid the £1 a minute ones!!

Haha that could end up being like having phone sex with Stephen hawking!

It will be someone who has sent you a txt msg, intentionally or otherwise. And, AFAIK, the only way to clear it is to listen to the message. Then call the sender and give them grief.
