What flashgun would anyone recommend to practice and learn with the a Canon 350/400D?

anyone got any links of said item?
 
How much can you afford?
 
anything up to £185 as a rough guess? would be a first chance at using one, so dont want to overload myself with features that would be to confusing for me to grasp :)
 
Cheapest? Something from Jessops. But the reload time and power isn't great.
Just go for the 430ex for about £150. Its brilliant, powerful, reload time is a fraction of a second (seriously fast!) and its basically worth every penny.
 
Think 2nd hand people!!!

For £150 you could get three flashes from the LCE Group which are all in working order, very nice cond. Thats what I did as I didn't want to spend £££££ on getting SB-800, I got 2x SB-25 and one SB-26 for less than an SB-800, and the older SB's work just as well if not better!!

Why does every Canon person think that they have to get a Canon flash?? Look outside of the box people!! :lol:

Well the reason I got my 430ex was because I wanted to use it on camera too!

Well... Being relatively new to DLSR Im still learning, when people throw model numbers at me it just gets me confused.

Thanx for the heads up though :thumbs:
 
Well any flash that you see SB before it, is a Nikon flash. Any flash that has letters after it, normally two, is a Canon flash.

Both flashes are basically the same and do the same job, but some people like the Nikon ones more as it has more features than the Canon as well as having a better LCD display on the back. (Thats what I thought when I was trying to fix foodpoison's Skyport problem and I had a look at his flash. :lol: Sorry I didn't tell you hahaha :) )
 
I just go the Sigma EF-500 from Jessops for £69.99.

All the specs are on that site but the long and short of it is, it's a good flash to practice with before spending the big bucks, and the resale price on e-bay is good enough to make some of your dosh back when your done.
