i guess it means what do I want from 'budget' and 'wideangle' :lol:

budget = well, the cheaper the better, having just bought a 2nd hand D90 and tamron 28-75 f2.8!

wideangle = maybe not as drastic as fisheye, but certainly less than 18mm (the kit lens range from my old D60)

How about a use manual focus lens? not many about that are less than 18mm but there are a few, Voigtlander do a 15mm wide angle that i fancy. Awesome quality!

yeah that might be good andy... what kind of price do they go for?

being relatively new to it all, i appreciate the AF! but taking some shots last night, i didn't have any choice but to M focus (shooting through a window!) and it wasn't too bad... always worried that my eyesight will fail me and i'm not actually focusing pin-sharp!
 
If these are wide enough for you...and if there's nothing else...

There must be some used "kit" lenses out there in the 17/18-50mm type range. Failing that some are happy enough with a 19-35mm. Several companies badged this lens but I'm pretty sure they're all more or less the same lens.

cheers woofx2, but as mentioned, looking for something beneath the 17/18mm range where most kit lens midrange zooms start :)

I though it was worth saying, just as a last resort.
