Critique required bullinachinashop's 52 for '24 - Weeks 40 - 52 catch-up!

Some great catch-up shots.

Stand outs were the phone box and the temp gauge.

The light in the long grass shot is great - though I'd have been tempted to go with a much narrower aperture to try and get the sun a little more defined.

Straight to the point for Occupational :)

Great shot with the focus on the finger, really draws attention to the workpiece. Nice

Curious to see an electrician’s screwdriver there.

Thank you - I really like the phone box. And good advice with the long grass shot!

Thank you! Not sure what the screwdriver was for - I'll hsve to ask!

Challenging week for me - positive COVID test last Saturday so a week recovering & working from home... but managed to get out this weekend to found some very high floodwater around town... so a slightly morbid take on the people theme where I got into some deep thinking about our lives spent trying to master everything but ending up powerless to mother nature... :ROFLMAO:...must have had too many lemsips

Yep some nice images - I'm only getting a red X for the 2nd but can click through to FlickR for it :)

I seem to get that error randomly and can't work out

But thanks for the positive comments!
It's usually a file size thing. A bit daft when hosting pix off site yourself. I've raised this issue in the past and got no joy.

Like you, I went to a graveyard for this topic but you've absolutely nailed it with all four of your pictures . Excellent.

...Week 39 - Exit - Has gone AWOL but I'll be back for it.....

In the meantime, a couple of candid attempts that I'm not too embarressed to share - haven't got used to wielding a proper camera in public yet!

First one is in Alton at the start of a decent circular walk, taken with the 35mm Sony zeiss lens

Second is from our local Parkrun with the Nikkor 50mm film lens on... I had better positioned runners in other photos but focus was all wrong

Both lovely images Ross, especially #1.as it conjures up an image of an open fire with wood crackling and a warm glow..

The feller with the logs is great, I might have tried cropping for less sky for more emphasis on the person.?
No, I think the grey sky gives meaning to his actions - a story nicely knitted together pictorially

Thank you, that's a nice image to conjure

I just thought the picture and his actions has more scale with more above and in front of him. But I like getting others' perspectives

How did I miss that?! Maybe it's a portal to me taking better photos?! ;)
I rather like the framing on the second shot.
Thanks Helen !

Happy New Year everyone! Completely fell off the weekly challenge horse towards the end of last year, but wanted to try and share a few before taking on 2025 with renewed vigour!

First job is to loop back to Week 39 - Exit which I missed first time round. Was happy with how this shot of a lovely Porsche 928's exhasut pipes came out on the Nikkor AIS 50mm f1.4 I acquired recently

Week 41 - Friends

This is Alfie, my uncle & aunt's Jack Russell/Parsons cross and definately they're best friend! He's got the most amazing temprament and if I'd managed to sneak him home with me after a recent visit he'd be my best friend too!
This is another taken with the Nikkor 50mm film lens - I was stunned with how sharp this picture came out!

Week 42 - Local
Couldn't think of anything more local than my favourite nearby Pub! :) This one taken with the Rokkor 50mm film lens I've been enjoying using - puts quite a nice warm tone on everything, much like a Guinness or too..

Week 45 - Snapper's choice
One of the photos I've taken in the last few weeks which has made me so happy I've got into 'proper' photography this year - bumping into some Highland Cows, four hours into a walk which, until 10 minutes before had been lit by nothing more than grey drizzle... and getting a sharp (enough) shot with a 50mm Rokkor film lens at close quarters before the cow made it clear it wasn;t going to pose for any more photos... what a buzz!

Week 46 - Intricate
From a recent trip to the Crozon Peninsula to see my uncle and aunt, I relly like the tightly packed shells and how much variety of size, colour and pattern was on display. Taken on my Nikkor 50mm AIS lens

Week 47 - Ancient
Possibly not old enough to be classed 'ancient', but this ship's graveyard in Camaret-su-Mer in Brittany is so atmospheric, and the slow decay of the boats so vivid, that I thought it worthy!

Week 48 - Numbers
Bought a few Seiko watches this year, having inherited the one I chose for my Dad over thirty years ago... this is one of my favourites so far and if course, lots of detail to photograph. I think I took this with the 28mm Tamron I got with the camera but have since sold.
