Yes
Anyone use bumptop for their desktop?

I use it mostly now because I like the 4 walls, that are still my desktop, but i can put stuff there thats a bit more out of the way.

Google have recently acquired them so I guess they are using their 3d desktop idea in the chrome OS. It's so cool, if you haven't see it take a look at this:

Just seems to be a waste of processing power to me.

Putting things in a pile on there is no different than putting them in a folder.

As for use in the chrome OS, I was under the impression the Chrome OS was going to be for things like netbooks and their little 1.6 processors etc. This seems like it could be rather CPU heavy for a netbook.

It would be a cool gimmick for a touch screen app, just not sure if it will take off.

Its totally different to putting things in a folder!!!!!

Putting things in a folder takes two steps to access them, double click folder, find image. With the pile you can get at them with a gesture and spread them out or cycle through them to get at them.

the lasso selection is great too, when the icons are in a uniform selection, you have t do a ctrl or shift select - meaning putting a hand on a keyboard, no need with this.

changing the size of the icon helps too, make things that are more important bigger to help find them more easier

The four walls is what really does it for me though, i can sort desktop stuff that i always want but clutters up space to a side wall.

As for processing power, I have activity monitor open and it's currently using 0.3 CPU, as a comparison Dashboard is using 1.3 and activity monitor itself is using 1.2!! Thats when it's dormant, when you interact with stuff obviously it goes up but not higher than safari which im currently using that is taking up 13.2 CPU.
