Hi,
I've noticed my burst mode frame rate is about half full speed when auto focus is on. I use AI Servo focus centre point with back button focusing. If I put the lens on AF the speed is fine. As the lens isn't having to focus when I press the shutter anyone know why this is ?
Thanks
Simon

What lens are you using?. I noticed this with some of the cheaper lenses, especially my old 50mm f1.8.

When in Servo mode the camera delays shutter release until it's something like in focus and with the cheaper lenses this seems to take some time.

Not sure if you can select options to prevent this buy setting release priority??

Unfortunately all my lenses are cheap, I've seen this with the 28-300 Tamron and also 170-500 Sigma. I don't see why servo would interfere as pressing the shutter button doesn't focus and my finger isn't pressing the back button which does.

It'll only shoot max fps when the lens has locked focus, hense why you should use faster focusing lenses for action, ie Canon's USM lenses or Sigmas HSM lenses.

In AF no matter what drive mode you are using the camera will wait until it confirms focus so it's always limited in effect if you use a slow lens.
