Buy existing Sigma 70 - 200 or wait for the new IS version?

I already have a Nikon 70 - 300 VR but this has a max aperture of f5.6 extended, and for horse events (my main use foir such a lens) I am thinking that the f2.8 will be very handy.

I already need a fairly high shutter speed to stop the action so I am thinking the IS actually wont help much and I will be better off getting the much cheaper current Sigma 70 - 200 without IS

Am I thinking on the right lines?

210? dont you mean 200?

to be honest i dont miss IS on mine at dressage/jumping events especially with F2.8 but its subjective to what you shoot (action/portrait). IS wont help you too much for moving subjects.
