I shall be buying this egs plus heads in the next coming week. I did me some research on this combo

Manfrotto 496RC2 Ball Head with Friction Control

Manfrotto 190XPROB Alu

To be used in varouis situations like landscape, portraits, waiting for birds to pass by and so on.

Im 5'7 thus not a really tall chap. Will the camera reach my eyes with this combo? Not really looking forward to bend down.

Are overall ball heads better then 3way? I like ball head for their smaller size (more compact)

Also on Manfrotto site it said something like that the head will take more weight then the legs and that is no good. Didnt really understand what it meant.

Plus could I eventually upgrade the pad to a better bigger one for the head?

Thanks for any help

P.S Manfrotto is my chioce not interested somehow in other brands

should have got a Redsnapper Neil

i have one and it looks and feels like a tripod 4x its price

its a better make for sure, but for 50 gibbs its pretty mean.

i want a tripod out here but even a small crappy 10quid argos style thing is like 30. even in Singapore, its a joke. now i have a 3 quid (sorry no pound key) tiny fake nikon thing, works pretty well mind.

yer it makes no sense to me at all. anyway ill let the thread continue.

Derail averted

tnx guys sticking to manfrotto

Manfrotto is good, even if there is better value out there (Benro, Red Snapper).

But to answer your question about height, the 190 series is quite small and even at 5ft 7in you will need quite a lot of extension on the centre column. This is death to stability.

055 series is the proper job

:) liked the 55 but went modern to bigger. Plus I will be doing alot of walking thus bending down I decided will be my future as I ordered the 190 yesterday. Today later on will be ordering the head 496RC2. Would love m one of those super light nice looking ball heads but unfortunetly at the mo beyond my justifying one of them.
