Yes
As per the title. Is there anything in particular i should be looking out for?

I may have found a wedding tog selling up so i assume they have been well used/high shutter count.

Cheers

I would look out for excessive dust on the sensor, rub marks and scratches on the focus screen and mirror, shutter count, general condition of body, dead pixels or scratches on the LCD's and that all the buttons are still working as they should.

Just out of interest why sensor dust ? , a sensor can be cleaned.

Surely function, shutter count and general condition would be more important thats what I'd be lloking for :D

I personally wouldn't worry about sensor dust as I've cleaned my own many times and whatever is there can be sorted in a couple of minutes. Personally I'd be more annoyed at muck on the focus screen and in the viewfinder.

Other than that, I'd look at the shutter count and the general condition and I'd then want to look at a couple of shots just to make sure nothing nasty was happening.

PS. Any way of checking if the mirror mod has been done to stop it all falling apart?

Yep, dirty sensors don't bother me, they are easy to clean.

At what sort of shutter count would you think hang on, that's getting a bit high?

And what is this about mirrors falling apart?

As far as I remember mirrors could fall off and the fix was to put little retainers on.

If you Google 5D mirror mod or 5D mirror fix you'll probably see it.

I'd check the sensor carefully, you don't know where the camera has been or what conditions it's been through, and shutter count.

i had 2 5d's in the past and they took a good amount of battering. Its a well built and solid camera. Shutter count is a much of a muchness tbh. The amount of cameras that never see pro level use far outweighs the high useage ones that have been gunned to death by a pro as the amateur/hobbyist market is so big. One of my current 5D2's was used by an pro, its got scuff marks all over but had done only 43k when I bought it.

I posted a pic sometime ago of the mirror housing after mine was replaced in this thread

It's obvious, but external condition is usually a pretty good indicator of how it has been handled.
